The skeleton is the border between life and death, the impermanence of physical existence and the bare truth, since bones are all that remain of us. Its outstretched arms are open, either receiving or losing something, expressing both hope and inevitability. The black heart is love and pain, longing and loss, tender and deep, and through its colour secretive and melancholy. The death moths are change, rebirth and passage, tied to the soul's wandering and to night journeys.
